Hark, your behaviour and attitude leaves a sane man with only one choice and that is to take the situation somewhat lightly. Otherwise, the lack of perspective would eventually be bad for one's health I would imagine. It is your attitude, not the issue, that brought out the need to have a small smile.

To be very technical, your point is, at best a quirk and deemed too small in a game of this size to be worth altering a stable system and possibly introducing unknown, more dangerous bugs. In the future when new systems are implemented, it will probably be addressed in that code design from the ground up.

Nods to the door...now if that's all...feel free to be on your way. Should anything else at all trouble you though, do try to pop back in and act like a human. And on your way out, feel free to notice all of those whose "loyalty" has been gained not by indulgence but by our delivery of solid gameplay and unwavering product support.

I'm sure this is due to something deep in the registry that prevents two ship types sharing the same name and so it can not be fixed with any ease.

As I noted in my original post, I deleted both the original and Mk2 designs, recreated the ship from the ground up, and saved it using the original name. It showed up in the list as Illuminator Mk3. Your workaround does not work for me; I am willing to entertain the notion that my copy of the game is bugged.

My bad, apparently I should have included an IIRC and a IDRC

I think you'll find that if you ask questions in a mature fashion, or perhaps even search first to find out if your question has been asked before, that may go a long way to getting the answers you want in the way you prefer them.

The community that Kerberos has built here is far and away a more enjoyable and approachable environment than most other game's forums. However, much like in the professional world, one will find themselves treated according to how they present themselves.

Also, the idea that every customer is equally desirable and that a long term relationship is possible with every customer is a myth. Even Tim Horton's is willing and able to ban some people for life if they act like a jerk.

Years of experience interacting directly with the public has taught us a few lessons. The tone of wounded innocence that the "customer" in this news story adopts is perfect; I've seen it a hundred times in people who posted to my company's forum with a tone so childish and rude that it would have gotten them thrown bodily out of a brothel, much less a game development studio.

"But I was just expressing my opinion! And, and, the customer is always right! Plus my freedom of speech is being violated--! Ah, now we see the violence inherent in the system!"

:P

As someone with plenty of experience on both sides of the sales counter, I can tell you from experience that the average, psychologically healthy customer does not particularly desire or appreciate ass-kissing. What they do appreciate and desire is honesty. The few that demand obeisance may be loud, but they're not numerous enough to be statistically important. (edit: and they'll find something to whine about no matter what you do.) I just wish that this was better understood on the company end of things. And for that matter, in politics.
You're doing it right, Kerberos.

On a side note the mug comment gave me an idea, Kerb swag with different Mec-isims on them. (looks around, hears crickets, goes and finds a corner to sit in shame in)

LOL! That's pretty funny idea, actually.

I can't say I always see the wisdom in Mec's every response, but I can see it in enough that it could be really fun to have a "Snarky Mug" with a Mec quip on it.

Yes, but "Disdainful Mug" just doesn't have the same ring to it. :P

Contenders for the Mug:

"Yes, well don't let the reality door hit you in the ass on your way out."

"Because it is a heartless and cruel universe."

(The first one still makes me randomly smile.)

Others?
