Ship Class Names

Since I'm still quite green concerning this game, I can't say what my definitive naming scheme will be. But, I'll probably start off as the humans. So, I'll probably, on paper, write down some builds and then assign names for it.

For example, a dreadnaught command ship (if that is possible) would be the "Empress". A dreadnaught capabel of bringing down the hammer on anything would be called the "Avenger". And so on.
I would LOVE to give names for each ship. I like role-playing and this seems the game for it. Sure, I would run out of names after 50 ships or so, but still, it would be cool.

This game can be played in a window AND the combat round can be paused at will, yes? Otherwise, my AAR's are gonna be a bit less extensive. :)

hmmm Did I mention the AI will remember your ship and player names for its own use later to disguise its identity in future games?

Like, in multiplayer games? You mean you won't necessarily know who is the AI and who is another player until you start chatting with them? Hehehehe. That's funny.

Would the AI use your ship names for the same configuration of ship that you assigned it to? Or would it use it for something completely different? The first would be a nice tip-off on what was coming to attack, the second... I'm imagining the horror as I race to attack three, say, "Not a Tanker"s and find out that they're dreadnaughts

Wow. That's cool. A good piece of info for the wiki. ;)

I believe Mecron indicated that the battles can be recorded and viewed later. This will help your AAR writing a great deal.

Mecron you are evil.

Besides - if the AI truly has this capability (jury out)... I will take great pleasure in constantly re-educating it to not mimic me.

Good, so the little fact that every one of my strategems is horribly flawed will be helpful. I can just exploit the flaw when I see the AI use it.

*does a little dance of joy*

Now I just need a copy of the game on my HD and I will be ready to roll. :)

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I heard the opposite. Something about it causing the framerate to slow down too much. He did say that IF they could find a way to make it work without killing the frame rate, there could be a recording function.

I didnt say it DID, I just said it was a concern. As it is I think you can assume it WILL be a feature. Pausing, of course, will be single player only. (It lets you take some amazing screen shots. )
