Fort Zombie Speculation

Doombot brings us this gem:

And these too:

So what can we determine from these little nuggets?

1) Everyone in every pic is a zombie.
2) There's no weapon or other clue that this is a FPS.
3) The Zombies look like normal folks turned zombie rather than "rise from the grave" zombies.
4) The town of Piety, Indiana looks mostly intact--except for one car wreck. (Possibly your character's car?)

Any other observations, now that its all right here?

Hmm, perhaps we are looking at this from the wrong angle. Perhaps it is not a zombie survival game but a zombie survival game. You and your small band of undead compatriates have to survive against all the odds as murderous humans sweep across the country. :D

dungeon keeper is an interesting point to bring up...but not in the bass-akward pov kind of way.

Yeah ... what the heck could that mean? backwards point of view? Nope - no idea

Anyway - I think that indeed you somehow control the zombie swarms. Perhaps some kind of RTS. Even though I don't usually like RTS games I LOVE the Zombie genre so I am very intrigued.

Anyone ever play Stubbs the Zombie? I LOVED that fricken game. Where else can you rip someone's arm off and club them to death with it?

Yeah - I have issues, so sue me

Actually, maybe we are looking at something of a cross between night of the living dead and "Stronghold". You and your spunky friends are assaulted by an unending horde of zombies. You've got to build a fort strong enough to hold them off until you're able to escape to the next area (uncle Bubba is showing up in a school bus at 6:00). It takes a while for zombies to find you because they are dumb. So you get an initial phase of setting up traps and defensive stuff improvised out of sporting goods stores, victoria's secret and 7-11s. You pick off the occasional stray zombie that wanders into your fort. Inevitably, the zombie horde hones in on your location as the last source of fresh brains and the fun really begins!

So rather than dungeon master with zombies, I think its more of Stronghold with Zombies on mainstreet USA.

Watcha think?

mmm getting closer...what if instead of just magically getting the resources to "Fort up", you had to slip into town day after day on missions looking for supplies, ammo, and people? All the while knowing that the main horde is approaching and your defences better be ready?

Wow ... that used to be one of my favourite "What If" Scenarios - it would be pretty cool to play a game based on that.

Now we have to try and guess whether you maintain a "God's eye point of view" or whether you can also get a FP view to really immerse you in the horror

Based on Kerb's tastes in games, I think we might infer the following:

fun: out-thinking the mindless zombie horde
fun: watching mindless zombie horde plow into your well thought out defenses
fun: Sneaking past zombie hordes to get needed supplies
not fun: Killing 1000s of zombies in FPS arcade (didn't we already do this in Doom/Quake/FPS of the day?)
not fun: Micro on a million little zombie traps and human workers
not fun: Finding the munchkin strategy and sticking slavishly to it

In general, I expect kerb to do the right thing--make it fun!
