512mb Video RAM the Min Reqiurement!

Postby Ozu08865 » Sat Oct 31, 2009 11:48 pm

Is it really 512mb video ram needed to run this game? I mean your need Shader 2 but that is like a 128mb video at the very least.

Form what has been said a 512 card ought to be able to run the game with ease. However there are some weird driver interactions and some other technical issues that seem to mess with your framerate.
I have an overclocked ATi 4830 (512m) and I have some chugginess in areas with lots of objects and sometimes indoors as well. Fiddling with the graphics setting seems to have minimal effect
So yeah if you are running less than a 512 I would say wait to buy untill it has been patched a bit and runs a bit smoother.

To be fair less mainstream games tend to attract people with less mainstream hardware.

And the 'welcome to 2009' comments don't fit so well when the system requirements are among the highest of any game currently on release.

Mecron already stated why the requirements are what they are.

You do NOT need a 512MB card to play the game, you need a 512MB card to get the full experience of the game.

I was playing the game fine with a nvidia 8400GT 256MB card (normal render, no shadows, far draw distance, near light distance) and the game was more than playable.

I just bought a nvidia 250GTS 1GB DDR3 card and at the highest quality it runs super smooth (dual core 2.13 Ghz, 4MB ram, 10000 RPM 1TB sata II drive).

for $160 dollars it was worth the upgrade :) but you could get away with something in the 100$ range and it will be as good.

Mecrons comment holds true, this is 2009+ gaming.

The irony is that when we did SotS we literally bent ourselves into pretzels making sure it had low system requirements and the reward was "where are your fancy lighting and shadows?"

This time we put in the fancy lighting and shadows and suddenly we are system requirement nazis...no winning I suppose.

And for the record? My super machine that has no problem playing FZ? (albeit a lil chug in the final defence when a zillion zombies come piling in)

Intel Core2 Duo
2 Gigs Mem
Gforce 8800 GTS half gig card

In other words, ok but hardly super.

No.
This game does not have graphical problems.
The graphics are pure shit.
It lags because it is so poorly coded.

Seriously, my rig can run Crysis with a bunch of quality mods and a different .INI on about 20 FPS.

I can run Fort Zombie on Low with an FPS of about 8.

I'm not really mad because I pirated the game.
But really.
Stop saying your game requires too much, it just sucks in the coding department.

My GeForce 8800 GTS is one of the oddball 320MB ones... It runs the game fine (Though there's a little bit of flicker in the UI every now and then... hardly anything game breaking or even that distracting really).

There are so many nasty things I want to post in reply to your post, so I just settled for reporting it.

But consider this, just think for one second, perhaps your copy of the game runs like a piece of shit because YOU FUCKING PIRATED IT! Not only is it an older version most likely, like version 1.00 old I would guess, but it probably came loaded with its own special trojans just for you care of the download provider: keyloggers, zombie bot software, and host of other nasty code for your system to wallow in. Hell, some of that you probably picked up just by visiting the site of where ever you downloaded it from.

You seriously believe that all pirated software comes loaded with trojans and other assorted goods?

I've been piratan most games and all software for like... 5 years, and the only viruses I get are either from porn sites or some I made myself.

AND

Even if I did download an old version, I can just grab the patch off the internet.

its like if I had payed someone to pretend to be the avatar of all the presumption, ignorance and entitlement of the internet all at once. The urge to ban is strong but its somehow feels like defacing art or something. :bangdesk:
