Add a key for melee while holding a firearm

I was playing the L4D last weekend, and I found out that in that game you can press RMB to smack the zombies with you firearm, even with ammo in your guns. Also, in FZ. I often run into zombies in close quarter, esp during a SAR mission, and changing weapons by then costs precious time and sometimes cause death, esp, if you have multiple weapon in you inventory so that you have to cycle through all of them to get to the one you need. As a conclusion, I am wondering if it's possible to include a melee attack key for firearms despite the remaining ammo in the next update? That would be really great.

If you don't mind me hitching an idea on to yours, which IMHO sounds like a really cool idea since I know there is a animation for pistol whipping a Zed with a empty revolver, because your post made me think of it ... which would be this:

Sure would be nice if there was some way to designate only certain weapons to cycle through in the inventory for when you are switching weapons.

Sorry if this idea deserves its own thread, just wanted to make sure MZ0125 knew his post inspired it.

I've mentioned a similar idea in my other post, yet it seems like no one ever checked (I know it's a long one). cycling through 10+ weapon you are carrying, esp on weapon missions, is really a painful thing, when run into Zs.

I didn't ignore it, in fact I laughed when I was reading through the posts and noticed you had already pointed out that idea for ignoring all the looted weapons for the ones that were the ones we really wanted to use.

Ben has a hard enough time melee'n with a fire axe let alone the butt of a gun. Need to introduce knockback and knockdown to certain melee weapons, with the ability of moving while swinging :D

Add lootable cricket bats to the sporting goods store so i can go all shaun of the dead over here.

That knock back effect is in my list too! Can't wait the day you can smash a Z so hard so that he flies backward!!! :twisted:
