I just don't see why trade can't be almost totally automated, or at least have the ability to automate construction ships\fleets so they can build a trade network on their own.

Can't speak for SOTS1 though, I simply don't recall the impact trade had on it or how much micromanagement it wanted. Been too long.
it basically doubles your income but required tons of micro to get your fleets built, put together and coordinated and you basically had to go to every system and build a ship to do it efficiently. It made me quit enjoying the game. I kind of wished there was an option to just completely remove it.
i feel your pain. The Trade was made so important in the game that it cripples your development if you don't do trade. But managing trade was too labor intensive and simply killed enjoyment of the game. That's why I also suggested to fully automate it.. let it build up on its own... make trade stations to speed up self development of trade.

The option to remove trade altogether for a game would be a good solution.

I have used two social networks. I quit them both. I only recently discovered reddit this year.

All that said, you should probably have no difficulty believing me when I say I do not know what a tumblr is aside from a misspelled attempt at that thing I mix drinks with sometimes.

:)

What's a tumblr?

I may be 35, but when it comes to things like this, I'm basically 87.

Pit of Doom is a first person shooter based on the Pit, currently in development. Other than hints and teaser pics there’s not much info about it publicly available yet. Presumably we’ll find out more substantial info whenever the Kickstarter for it goes up, but no idea when that might be.

To be fair I do think I mentioned I'm losing my sight somewhere :-P

I just hope the SOTS Reboot happens before I lose it completely, lol.

Yet we have trouble getting more than a 150 people interested in kickstarting anything... Sometimes we need faith too.

Hmmmmm...... So Mecron, how many backers would you need to consider it?

If we take $100k as the target funding level, then probably in the neighborhood of a thousand backers.

I suspect you're not going to see anywhere near that number until The Pit of Doom kickstarter maybe.

100 k is not even close to what a title of that size would require. And min supporters would be in the 2 to 5 K range. PoD will NOT be kickstarted and will be going to prerelease but a lot of support there would be helpful. Also, just for the record, any last minute support of word spreading on the Control! KS would be appreciated.

If you remove trade, then you have to give the Morrigi something for balance.

I think that making trade less micro-intensive is the way to go. Going with a SOTS1 style, even if it seems unsophisticated, I think is the best compromise.
