Thanks! The source was very vague, and I wasn't sure what effected what and how. It only had a short bit about your conflicts influencing randoms but no details (and all the info was on the same page). Add in the telephone game effect (doubt I was reading the original source) and you can see a very confused Mad.

Arghy wrote:Goddamn i tried to DL the 1.8 patch because steam is taking its sweet time and its pretty much impossible. Does anyone have a link to the patch? i dont want to install a huge patcher that i'll never use again to DL a 154mb patch.

Note that using the GamersGate version of the patch on the Steam install of the game is officially unsupported, though it might still work. :) nickersonm posted the two links to the GamersGate version of the patch:

http://patches.gamersgate.com/sots-1.8. ... -cand3.exe

or

http://nickersonm.com/sots/sots-1.8.0-e ... -cand3.exe

There is no downloader with those links, just the 154mb self-extracting zip/install of the patch. Just clicking on the above links will start your download in most cases, but you could also right click on the link and click "Save Link as..." (or "Save Target As...") to save your download if you are trying to run the patch directly from the net instead of downloading it. You may also want to make sure that your browser always asks you if you want to either run or save a file when clicking a link, so you can tell it to save the above file to your local hard drive.

If we're talking about the one posted a page or two back, yes, Steam users can use it. I tested it myself, currently enjoying 1.8.0! :D

I'm not sure if you have to have 1.7.2 installed or not first (probably not) but 1.7.1 was Argos Naval Yards (expansion). ie 1.7.1 wasn't free and I wouldn't expect a free update to include non-free content.

Grab ANY and then apply 1.8.0 or grab the complete collection that has a bit more extras than the free update, which is already 1.8.0.

Completely forgot to mention them. My first game on 1.8.0 was Antiquarians with all of the new icons in use. Gave a...I don't know, darker? Gritty? A different tone of things. I like.

Agreed. It looks like SotS2 is going to look and feel very, very different from SotS1.

The ones at the far right of the list. You can't miss them since they're all various shades of charcoal.
