Terraforming Technology overlap?

Post by sorain » Tue Jun 08, 2010 8:00 am

Right, so after scowering the forums, I have not found the answer to my question. The wiki appears to lack this information as well. So I ask here.

Do the benifits of a given Terraforming tech stack, or overlap?

In example:
Elemental Nanites: Increases terraforming efficiency by 50%.
Atmospheric Processors: Increases terraforming efficiency by 40%.
Terraforming Bacteria Increases terraforming efficiency by 35%.
Environmental Tailoring: terraforming efficiency by 35%.
Atmospheric Adaptation: Increases terraforming efficiency by 25%
Gravitational Adaptation: Increases terraforming efficiency by 25%

If I develop Atmospheric Processors, and then Elemental Nanites, do I now have a 90% increased efficency, or have I gone from 40% to 50%?

If i have Atmospheric Adaptation, does its 25% stack with either or both of these?

(assuming yes, leading to a potental 210% increase... of course thats with ALL of them.)

Still, the thought has nagged at me that I was wasting research time and credits, so I ask.

The bonii from various terraforming tech are additive (but not multiplicative). Ie, AA and ET will together increase terraforming efficiency with 60%.

The same is true for the techs in the industrial and drone trees, with their IO increase. I'm not sure how the ship construction reduction works, however.

Ahem,

Indicates that it is additive as kjn states.

ahhh, was going insane trying to find that. How I missed it is perhaps a better question...

You both have my thanks.

Edit:
Although, I now wonder if anything has changed since those calculations were run, it has been a while after all...

Lots has changed with the economy over time. There's even a thread in the forum posts archive (linked in my sig) dedicated to tracking economy changes as the game has matured.
