prob of mine: while fielding a cnc unit when defending a planet my reinforcements show up almost on the wrong side of the planet.

is there any way to prevent that with a cnc unit?

From what I understand, reinforcements, even without a CnC unit, show up near where you start. If you've chased the enemy halfway around the planet, your going to get some deployments like that. On the plus side, the enemy reinforcements always show up near where they start too, so your reinforcements should be in good position to intercept them. ;)

This mecanic can also allow you to decoy a defence fleet off to the side so a wing of Assault Shuttles have unhampered access to a planet. Mecron gave a good battle report about that very thing that you can find here.

I found that big problem. Not because it's a huge area to defend, that just makes you think about where your fleet is. But if my reinforcements are on the oposite side of the planet, I can't select them anymore. I can't even find them. And since the AI knows where every one of its ships are... bad things have happend. Many lost their lives.

Tab key to cycle through your ships and find your wayard captains. Also researching Integrated Sensors gives you the full view of the battle fromm the sensors screen.

yes integrated sensors are very good. Also realize your reinforcements are coming from the safety of low orbit. It is actually an advantage for them not to appear in the thick of things as it prevents them being picked off as they arrive...which can sadly happen to the attacker if they lose control of their mustering point. Not that I am saying I was ambushed by 2 tark players last night who were big jerks and massacred my attack fleet that way or anything

I see. Thank you, that'll make things a bit easier.

how would a command ship make it safer for your ships to appear in the middle of the firefight?

safer? that damn thing is heading in a fight after all, not a civilian transport.

a cnc vessel should point the other ship where it is needed and it better moves there.
