Shields
Shields
Your place to ask questions and make observations about Shield Systems in the Sots Universe. Shields are generated by special destroyer mission section and cruiser command sections. Dreadnoughts can only sustain a Deflector shield generated by a special command section.

Just a comment on my first use of deflectors:
Humans with deflectors and gauss guns versus Tarka with polysilicates and gauss guns: lollerific.

These unfortunate people here will be instantly killed. This circle, which I am sad to say we are in, will experience a slower, considerably more painful death.
mines are so slow they can push through the field without getting crushed and detonating. Also a deflector tip for the main game you will be playing someday? The distance from the front of the shield to the front of the destroyer is sometimes well within the blast radius of scarey things like the detonating variants of the energy torps.

[edit] Woo Hoo! 300th post! [/edit]
If your opponent is heavy on gauss or missiles, or you keep getting wiped out by planetary missiles, yes deflectors worth getting. A few front line Deflector ships can screen the ships behind them. And even if your opponent is laser heavy, the Deflector section has a nice amount of small mounts.

Lol...well, Herbert was writing a science fictional re-imagining of Middle Eastern affairs. Things in that region have been a little dark for a long, long time.

I always thought the similarities were too big for coincidence! Course, I've always thought I was crazy and that LotR wasn't intended as a Catholic metaphorical so..maybe I am still crazy

The teacher cut in smoothly, "Yes, of course. SolForce never fails to remind us how necessary they are to our...'survival'. ... It amazes me that the human race ever managed to exist, before you lot came along."
Cai Rui smiled thinly. "What amazes me is how quickly the human race could cease to exist, if we were gone."

OHHHH. Thanks erynes, that makes Perfect sense, i never read into background for the series (i go through series like a termite through wood, but only invest background learning in my favorite series).
On a side note, whats your Favorite series?
And to make this threadworthy, ive found that lazers can be really frustrating with deflectors, especially when you cant research reflective plating.
