Never fear, the Noobs are still right where I left them!

I just don't want to start it up again unless I can maintain the momentum and keep up the quality. I mean, we don't want something like Ghostbusters 2.

I only can keep one saved game, as I have trouble re-integrating even after a short (overnight) pause. I forget what I was doing and why... Teflon memory on my part, I suppose.

How do I know I'm about to be annihilated? The turn count reaches 250...

I make notes. Lots and lots and lots of notes, both in-game and externally. I still forget things. So I also take screen shots, something like for every image that I post in the forum, it has six colleagues that don't make it. ;)

I've found participating in the SG's has been really helpful in teaching me how to come in the middle and still have some idea of what needs doing. But top of my wishlist for the final SotS patch is being able to make notes in game using something other than "!"

ARISE!

So, for giggles, I tried to revive my TAR, but I'm still stuck on how to whittle down a fully developed Homeworld. I've got the Tarka down to their home planet and I just can't seem to dish the damage to take them down.

My preferred technique is to go for their navy first, then use Assault Shuttles.

Or create a secondary weapon group on my warships and lob missiles at the colony. Lots and lots of missiles...

DervMan, I've made it many times to their planet, get rid of their ships, and launch my Assault Shuttles. However, with something like 2M Civilians and 1M Imperials (or vice verse), I seem to only get them down about <10% per turn.

Let me see if I can post some battle results and see if the numbers track with what you would expect.

How many Assault Shuttles are you bringing?

Well, I think I can get 4 or so once I reach the planet and back out a CR to get them out.

Mmmm.

Once you've dealt with the enemy navy, I'd recommend throwing Assault Shuttles at the colony.

If you're using Strikeforce CnC, that means at least nine Assault Shuttle Carriers.

Just for good measure, bring twenty... ;)

Well, there you have it. I didn't even know to make Assault CRs. Noob.

I meant Destroyers, but you can access Heavy Assault Shuttle Carriers too. They're fairly high up in the Drone research tree... ;)

And Advanced Assault Shuttles, too...

There's nothing that says you can't lob a bunch of shuttles at a planet from a moderate distance (with no enemy ships nearby), withdraw the shuttle carriers to back lines, have a new bunch of assault shuttle carriers warp in and launch, withdraw to back lines, etc. and finish up by bringing your combat ships back into the fray. Yes, you'll have to replace all the shuttles, but that's what repair ships are for. If you can get 20 shuttles into the atmosphere of a HW that will take it down pretty quickly...
