Heya

The usual quick fix to it was running before but not now is to remove the file display.cfg located under the main Sword of the Stars directory.

Based on what you wrote earlier, that will be under your Steam\steamapps\common\ directory, where ever you installed Steam to.


Let us know if that doesn't work.

It worked!

I was just getting ready to do a dxdiag dump when I decided to refresh and saw your post.
It makes sense, we were going through the files and just found the "could not create direct3d device object" in the session file.

The usual cause is a change in the display output, hence the question earlier relating to playing on the laptop's screen versus playing on an external.

One way to avoid this is to switch to Windowed mode before / after using an external monitor, generally by using ALT+ENTER.
