unable to start SOTS on a different pc

Post by CPTPromotable » Sat Jan 26, 2013 9:34 pm

I installed SOTS on my in-laws laptop, but whenever i try to run it straight from steam i'll get a windows pop-up saying that the .exe has stopped working, and when i try to start it directly from the SOTS folder in steam, i get the following error:

"This application has failed to start because d3dx9_42.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix the problem."

I already downloaded and installed the vcredist86.exe and restarted the pc, and now im getting these errors. Any help from a more comp-savvy SOTS fan? This laptop is running vista (32-bit i believe)
Take everything I say with a grain of salt.

My old account blew up. Castewarkp assured me it was not malicious :).

Check if DirectX 9 has been installed correctly.

Heya

That's a DirectX executable it's looking for, not the Visual C stuff.

Under the Steam install directory you should be able to find the DirectX redistributable.
Run that then try again.
