Hourglass Clusters
tags: hollow, clusters

Here's another map pack.

Shape is pretty simple - four or six cones expanding outwards.
Stars in the center of the map are always connected to each other with nodelines.
There are two versions of the map - 4 cone version and 6 cone version.

Enjoy! :D

Pack consist of 79 maps. 40-395 stars. Image

Guess what?

I had another map idea!

I'm still tweaking generation parameters so it might take some time but here's a demo map for anyone who wants it:

Would it be possible for you to repost all the maps you had posted in the "Let's Make Maps" thread as well? I might like to try the ring of clusters, shrine of the highest skies, and so on.

So here it is, the map that started a significant shift in map generation.

Image

As you can see here, star generation literally jumped the tracks on this map.

Rough Terrain, Jagged Spiral, Constellations, and, in the near future, Jagged Lattice - all use this idea.

EDIT:
Attached file were lost due to server move.
I browsed my archive and it should be it:
Spiral Shrine 160.csv

I'm not sure though. Let me know if it's another map or you have any other problems with it.

Rings of Clusters
tags: ring, clusters

So, can you imagine a giant ring of clusters? You can find one here.

This pack has a large number map that are named as follows:

"Ring of Clusters L N S T.csv"

L -- number of ring layers; in the image above there are 2
N -- number of clusters per layer
S -- number of stars per cluster
T -- total number of stars

Ring of Clusters 3 09 10 270.csv -- 3 layers, 9 clusters per layer, 10 stars per cluster, 270 stars total
Ring of Clusters 1 70 05 350.csv -- more than 400ly in diameter !!!

Dare to play the ginormous ring? :D

Pack consist of 253 maps. 10-350 stars. Image

Re-posting from the original Let's Make Maps thread.

But still be thicker in the middle...
Errr, basicly like a spiral map, just closed up with no arms. if that makes sense..
I was thinking non uniform thickness throughout, but as thin as 1 system at the edges...
A 45 system version, a 100 system version, and a 350 system version would be great.

Drop me a note here if you'd like a map of another size.

EDIT:
Some maps were lost.
Here are Discus100 and Discus350.
Discus.zip

Let me know if you need maps of another size.

Older maps versus newer SotS updates.

Just a short question that I hope you may answer.

Is there a difference in the formating of your 'newer' maps (e.g. ring of clusters) versus your 'older maps' (e.g. discus maps) that would make the "discus maps" unavailable when creating custom games with SotS ANY v1.8.0? I am also using Trashman's Phoenix Mod at this time.

I used to play the "discus maps" a lot... and didn't notice them not showing up in the current rounds of custom game generation until you re-uploaded the "Discus45-100-150-200-250-300-350" map set. They are definitely in my SotS/Maps/ directory so they should show up... but don't. I even copied over the 'old' files with the new re-uploaded ones in case there was a change in formatting... but no difference detected.

There are several others of the 'older' and some of the 'newer' maps that don't show up as well.

Any directions and suggestions would be extremely appreciated.

Keep up the great work.

That's... odd. For me they show up as usual.
I re-downloaded the archive I posted just in case and everything is normal.

Is anyone else out there experiencing this?

@Starwolf247:
1) Could you post your session.log file?
2) How many maps do you have in your Maps folder?
