Getting a PD cruiser and mounting it with lasers and a couple gauss instead of PD slots, especially with the awesome Liir PD cruiser. Incredible against DE swarms.

Carrying on with my Shield Projector shenanigans (And you thought these things were useless, admit it!), I've developed a ship that laughs at enemy DNs.

I was fighting the Hivers, who were fielding almost entirely DNs, and despite a tech advantage, I was taking kind of annoying (To me) losses. I was only getting 4 or 5 to one kill ratios with my DNs and it was bugging me (Granted I was fighting two allied Hiver factions and was thusly fighting 4 vs. 6 with my Flag fleet vs. two DN CNC fleets in most battles, but still).

So in an effort to curb losses (And to utterly make the AI cry), I developed a specialist DN killer.

AI/Projector/AM DN. All large turrets are Shield Projectors, all Projector slots are Meson Projectors, mediums were AM cannons, and the small slots were PD, just for defensive overkill.

Hilarity ensues.

Since then I've taken down fleets with 20+ DNs in them with no losses. Watching a BB/Blazer or Assault/Barrage DN dump it's fixed firepower directly into a shield projector is hilarious. Particularly when your DNs fix it with 4 meson projectors simultaneously in return.

i like the CR Cloak-LeapCOL with high turning rate to take down enemy DN or CR with one or two shots without getting in range
AM-COL are not bad either but leap is like instant hit

AM-COLs are spiffy, but embrace the wonder that is an Implosion cracker. More damage per mine than the AM (over triple that of a leap mine), but the blast radius is disturbingly high (475 for the damage, 900 for the gravity effect) which is why it really shines. Nothing quite beats lobbing Implosion Crackers into a cruiser formation and watching everything just get obliterated. Used with Neutronium-armed Impactors to keep dreads at bay and it's great fun :thumbsup:

Played as morigi with acm mod

Cruisers : imp cloack + armor + antim fit with pulsed grav beams + pd phasers. its so fuuun to watch enmy ships go creazy trowing around and cannto do anythign due of yoru imp cloacking.

ACM mod Human spinal mount de with this Railcannon you get with Accamplification can 1on1 kill CR´s best to use with AI command

Slow coming in, I know, but I've just really discovered this game recently. I actually did this myself last night. Of course, I lost two standard armor fleets before I thought to employ an entire fleet of PD cruisers to slap this planet down. I think it helped a lot that I managed to salvage the Light Emitter from the Liir just a few turns earlier, so my new PD cruisers employed both LE's and the PD red lasers. Made for a quick but exciting battle.

I'm slow, but I eventually get there. :oops:

custom-made spinal Impactor DD's that a friend kitbashed together for me. stick a Hammerhead with phaser pd on it, and watch in utter joy as your pocket Siege-driver runs rings around defending DNs.

or the huge fleets of cloaked cruisers I scatter in deep space when playing Liir... everyone always wonders why then never see my CRs until I overrun half the galaxy in one-two turns... :twisted:
