How do i setup a lan match.

Post by Forbodennus » Sat Oct 24, 2009 8:16 pm

When me and my friend try to play a lan, on sword of the stars using a ethernet cable from one to the other, we cannot find each others games on the lobby thing. My question is how can we setup a lan match properly without all this hassle!

Thank you.

well, 1st... 1 person has to host, the other person should NOT. If entering the lobby having selected the LAN option is not working (you might need a router or a hub)... you could also try the manual connect option by typing in the other computer's IP address...

Heya

First make sure you can ping each other. :)

A direct cable connection between two PCs typically requires that the cable be a special type, called a cross-over cable.

Each PC should also be given a unique IP Address manually rather than letting them default to the link local addresses.

As an example:
[PC 1]
192.168.32.2
255.255.255.0

[PC 2]
192.168.32.4
255.255.255.0

Don't bother with Gateway or DNS server addresses.

Depending on settings and your version of Windows, firewall might also be blocking Sword from establishing its network connections. I know on my Vista machine, Firewall's popped up twice trying to stop me from hosting a game on the LAN.
