At least these new spammers seem to be mostly confined to Misc.

Anybody else find it ironic that the spam bots have always seemed to be attracted to this thread. Is Doombot having a little fun at our expense?

There have been a lot of spam posts lately. I like the feature that new posts are in yellow so that I can easily see what I haven’t read. What I have been doing so far with spam posts is to go in to them and back so that they could be marked as read. That is until now. I just found the “Mark topics read” button. It’s brilliant. Now I can read the proper new posts and just click it to get all spam posts marked as read. Just to inform you of the possibilities - there might be more people out there like me that have not noticed this ability yet.

Even though I've already read the recent posts in this thread, they still come up as unread each time a new post is posted in it. :s Anyone else have this problem?
Re: What Not To Do With Spam Bots (do not respond to them pl
Yup, same here. Though, I don't think it's too much of an issue, as this thread's only real purpose is to attract bots....and educate forumites on the proper procedure when one is encountered.

Great, they're now spamming in German and Russian now... they could at least be original, and I don't know, maybe use Farsi or Mayan language...

I believe we are passing through a spam bot cloud. It should be over soon, although estimates vary. Unfortunately, spam bot clouds cannot be detected, unlike comet dust clouds.

Is it more helpful to report every single post by a SPAM account, or is flagging it once enough? Or, to put it another way, should I restrain myself from flagging every single %*&^ post by the %^&* SPAM-bot?

You don't need to report them at all; Castewar is pretty good about eliminating spam accounts/posts when he gets the chance and has no more trouble identifying them than you do.

So is the most helpful thing to just ignore them completely? Am I clogging up castewarkp's inbox to no purpose when I flag a SPAM post?

To quote Mecron (approximately), you're just adding fluff.

Re: What Not To Do With Spam Bots (do not respond to them pl
So the "Report this post" feature is just chrome?
