Welcome new survivors!

Post by castewarkp » Wed Sep 09, 2009 7:38 pm

Howdy howdy howdy.

We're happy to see a lot of new zombie enthusiast faces here and I want to take a second to talk a bit about these boards, as they are not your typical game company boards.

We're here, as we have been for the last 3.5 years, to talk directly to you guys - something you won't get from other dev teams. The trade-off is that this is taxing on a single human mind, overwhelming as hundreds to thousands on individuals focus their attention on just one. It is the reason why most devs do not talk to you directly, or if they do, under very controlled, PR-driven circumstances.

We're fine with this as long as everyone regards these boards as our house. We love having you here, we love talking to you about our cars, and we will explain to you why the cars are the colours they are and not the colours you think they should be. Friendly, polite conversation, with serious thought at perspective allows us to listen to people and if putting a spoiler on that car makes sense to us, great suggestion! We'll do it! At the same time, we won't - can't - listen to people go on and on about the colour of the cars, even after we've explained our reasons.

Ultimately, you are dealing directly with another human being - we are not here to kiss your ass. That's hollow pandering and we find that demeaning to you and demeaning to us and it's a goddamn tragedy that this is considered the norm. We're offering you something different. We will treat you with the same respect you treat us. You take this serious, we'll talk to you seriously. You act like this is the rest of the internet, you'll get both barrels, and "I'm a potential customer" will not shield you. As I've said, at that point, we HAVE to respond like that - because it's either that, or just stop putting ourselves out there for people to interact with.

Now, please pick up that gun. These zombies aren't going to shoot themselves.

Just wanted to say that is one of my all time favorite PA cartoons.
Looking forward to seeing more conversation on this game as the dialogue so far in the forums has been enlightening and funny.
Here's to hoping you lot don't have to deal with to many people demanding your "car" gets painted neon green and given a spoiler on the hood! :)

Also perhaps and addendum for old timers is required...

FZ is NOT SotS.
SotS does NOT need to be referenced in every other post.
FZ is what it is. It is NOT another zombie game, movie or book.
FZ should probably be played before talking about modding it.

Should you find yourself incapable of posting anything that doesn't take those points into account, you can probably safely skip posting till you can

So, speaking of NorthStar, when does it come out?

What, NOT funny? :|

I would like to just point out that Mecron has strongly implied earlier that Zeds who die with a gun will be able to use it. Therefore, you have seriously undermined your entire posting.

Die WITH a gun, not BY a gun.

Ironically, the other day my life was saved by a zombie fired bullet blowing the head off the zombie in front of me who was about to chow down while I was reloading.

@Remnant:

It's called 'friendly fire'...

Or 'Hot Zombie on Zombie action'...

ew.

Or: one of those priceless moments that just seem to happen when you build a game properly.

Basically, the projectile once shot moves in pretty much a straight line (unless FZ includes wind, gravity, and barrel spin into its projectile calculations), so whatever's in the way will take the bullet. Also, it would seem that guns are effective on these zombies.
