Some nooby questions

Post by xCel » Wed Aug 11, 2010 6:20 pm

So I'm a hardcore zombie lover, and I somehow randomly found Fort Zombie. Despite the majority of extremely negative reviews, the game's premise and the few good reviews were enough to make me purchase.

I'm having a blast.

I mean yeah, there are areas of the game that could use some work, but it's still extremely fun.

Anyway, I was wondering if there was a way to check weapon stats in game? I mean I guess for some weapons it's obvious, like the D.Eagle should do more damage than the Colt Detective Special, but what about a shovel and a baseball bat? Crowbar? Broadsword and katana?

Also, what umbrella skill does using a shotgun fall under? I would guess rifle because of the long barrel.

I'm only like 4 days in the game, but it's a lot of fun, I just don't know what weapons to be using because of scarce ammo; I wouldn't want to waste my best ammo on regular food runs :)

Thanks for any help

Welcome to the game and the boards, Xcel! Glad you are having fun and yes, shotguns run under rifle skill. As for the rest of the info you are looking for, we were trying to avoid too much in game info clutter and more of that "GAH! Hit it with that stick!" feeling, especially with melee weapons. Luckily I am sure more sensibile types have laid out this info in a zombie wiki that may have the answers you seek.

Shotgun umbrella skill is indeed rifle.
If you have the latest patch, which you should since every patch was a redownload of the whole game, the if you look at your player stats(survivor tab at the fort or right-click the player icon while in the field) it will display the umbrella skill and any sub skills grouped together.
It will also display the actual skill level.
IE: subskill + Umbrella Skill + associated attribute

As for what weapon stats, I believe the devs intended an air of guess work there.
In the Zed Apoco you may not know which weapon is better than the other, except through use and experience.
I haven't got the most experience with melee weapons, but Ive noticed the baseball bat drains less stamina than the crowbar.
I can practicaly swing the bat all day long without worry, where as swinging the crowbar will swftly deplete my stamina.

EDIT: Well ninja'd by Mecron. what an honor!.

Bastard Swords and Katanas are the kings of melee weapons. You can slice and dice zombies with those.

I have a raid party of 4, all melee specialists. When can hack even a horde of zombies to pieces.

A broadsword, does 4-19 damage, and uses 4 stamina per swing, impact force of 200.
Katana does 5-15 damage and uses 3 stamina per swing, impact force of 100.
Machete does 6-12 damage and uses 2 stamina per swing

Fireaxe and crowbar are far inferior.

Thanks for the quick responses guys!

After playing some more, I kind of like that weapon stats are "hidden." It kind of lends to real survivalist environment where you're kind of using what you can find, even if you don't know how it really works.
