Hi,

i mod my savegame for remplacing ben reiley by another characters...

i mod the witch texture a little adding blood under their eyes

open your savegame and search ben reiley:

I almost started writing a save editor yesterday.

My goals were:

-Select player name
-Select the player model
-Select a few choices of starting equipment (like a blade for a blade specialist)
-Select a starting fort
-Give more flexibility in the skills and stats

Essentially you would use this to start a game. You'd miss the 'secure your base' mission, but I can't see a way around it.

It should be an easy app to make in .NET and a little XML programming. I'd never find the time for it, not when I can take a little extra time and do it in notepad.

You could try replacing it with "zombies\zombie" for just a plain generic zombie, but not sure if its the best idea. The zombie model seems to lack some of the elements of the character models.

the best way to edit your savegame is using this tool XML Marker:

because the save game .sav it only an .xml file
just rename .sav to .xml and back when you finish your mod...

2 notes.

1> remember to save a backup copy of your un-edited save file.

2> some of the bugs that can happen from editing a save file can pop up WAY after the edit.

ok.. a 3rd
crashes due to save editing are a hazard of editing the game saves, not a bug in the game.

if you savegame crash when you try to add more ammo...
don't forget to change the guid

by example the two ammobox 9mm don't use the same guid:
