Why Multiplayer?

Post by Knives » Thu Jul 17, 2014 3:48 am

I was just wondering if I can't watch other battles even with FTL broadband why would I even want to play multiplayer?

To fight against someone that thinks, rather than against something that just computes?
Zed's TARs (sample):
Fractious Allies -- Hiver vs. Hiver, with allies
Who Let The Bugs Out -- Hiver vs. Tarka and Zuul
Tarka Ascendant -- Tarka vs. Hiver and Zuul

Let's be honest, the AI in this game is 6 types of special. Multiplayer lets you play against a thinking opponent constantly trying to out-smart you. It's so much more enjoyable!

Multiplayer is where the depth of this game truly shines in my experience.

The deep meta-game of early tech choices, government, expansion strategies, prototyping and retrofitting, aggression and skirmishing showcase the intricacies of just how many different and engaging options there are in SOTS2. These strengths come front and center when playing against another thinking, adapting, and reasoning human opponent (or ally).
