The Crunch in gaming.

Post by Slashman » Wed Oct 17, 2018 1:04 pm

This is an article following up on Rockstar's admission that they regularly push 100 hour weeks on their staff to get the game (in this case Red Dead Redemption 2) out the door.

not at all...but y'all like your games all fancy, and people are on salary and burn rates are lethal and y'all get all pissy when a game slides and y'all scream lawsuit when a game you prepaid for ships without a feature...and so on and so forth...

I agree that we need to NOT factor in abusing the team from the start...on the other hand we also need to take into account creating video games is like NO OTHER PROCESS known to humanity at the moment. And any article that does NOT take that into account is just so much pretentious blather.

I agree there is a problem but it is a VERY complicated one.

Fair enough. And for the record I do not now, nor have I ever, threatened to do anything but wait for whatever games comes out.

I've expressed disappointment but never more than that.

What!? Blizzard, a relatively large dev company with lots of ongoing projects, is spending time and money on some projects that are meant to expand their brand into new spaces and not just cater to their existing hardcore fanbase?!? TREASON!!!! Get the pitchforks and torches!!

Not directly related to the thread title, but a good example of entitlement in action.

Yeah. The latest Blizzcon, and aftermath, is a shitfest of "HOW DARE YOU NOT CATER TO ME PERSONALLY?"
