Man, that was a sweet movie! I saw it yesterday. IMAX3D didn't hurt :awesome:

Comic books are crazy, aren't they?

Super short review of "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: Century 2009"

No Spoilers.

This is the third and final issue of volume III of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

A very enjoyable read despite not being anywhere close to Moore's best work. It feels like Moore is idling in the driveway. That may be part of the "meta" message Moore is sending about the state of pop culture. As part of that message, a particular series of seven books (and eight movies) take it on the chin. The ending may come off a little cute to persons who are only familiar with a certain character from a 1960's Hollywood film and not the series of books it was based on. For those folks I would suggest Jess Nevins excellent annotations (http://jessnevins.com/annotations/2009annotations.html).

Kevin O'Neill continues to be AMAZING. I have been a huge fan of his since I first encountered "Marshal Law" and will most likely scan, print and make posters of several pages and panels from this issue.

Joe Kubert has died. Haven't seen any details past what's on his Wikipedia page (died after a short illness), but it's not too surprising as he was 85. I very fondly recall getting the over-sized Tarzan comic (Marvel called them "Giant-Sized" I can't remember what DC called them) when I was four or five years old.

can hardly wait...these projects where DC animations is actually trying to mesh the art style with the original material is a great leap forward both in terms of creator respect and in realizing that an animated film taken from comics has different potential than a movie taken from a book.

The first I heard of it I had to stop myself because for I could have sworn they had already done this. Was about a minute before I finally realized I was just remembering a really cool tribute episode of Batman TAS :P
The teacher cut in smoothly, "Yes, of course. SolForce never fails to remind us how necessary they are to our...'survival'. ... It amazes me that the human race ever managed to exist, before you lot came along."

Cai Rui smiled thinly. "What amazes me is how quickly the human race could cease to exist, if we were gone."
