Yeah, just wanna discuss this again, because this situation played out and, yes Virginia, there is no Santa Claus, because Jian Ghomeshi is going free.
And of course, the judge bought into the whole bullshit about perfect victims and "confusing" testimony. Worst yet...it's not a surprise, because even taking into account that society has a freakin' problem with this, the judge in question has a well-known history of making this kind of ruling!
How this guy is allowed to preside over rape cases is beyond me...how many times do women have to march on Queen's Park before the court system is reformed to fix this (and many other) problems? No wonder women don't even bother to report their rapes anymore. It's less of a hassle to let it drop, move on and deal with the damage (rather than inflicting it anew by having to testify about it in court...with very low odds of success...take that into account with the numbers, and it makes it pointless to report).
And for the record, I know more than one friend who has done just that.
