Its very decent. A fun watch and very focused on current events affecting our lives.

Just to be clear this is the 2008 series right?

I like this incarnation of The Boys.
It massively tones down the unnecessary levels of obnoxiousness, crudeness and misogyny (that Garth Ennis is so fond of) without losing sight of the characters and the overall storyarc.

I never read the original comics so I didn't have an expectation going in.

I was pleasantly surprised though.

But how will we recognize its a Garth Ennis piece without the morally repulsive, drunk, self-loathing, unreliable Irish man character?!

Now I don't really want to read the original comic. What else did he work on..Garth Ennis I mean?

Is there any artistic value in recognizing it as a Garth Ennis piece?

I mean, I liked his Judge Dredd run, and I liked The Boys for its more critical take on superheroes (I mean, even the Watchmen barely touched what superheroes would be in Corporate America), but I've liked those runs DESPITE Garth Ennis personal touches, not because of them. I dropped Preacher after just a few issues because since I didn't really connect with the story Garth Ennis style was just too repulsive.

P.S: Which these days is really my reaction to all the "edgy" writers that got their start in the 90s and late 80s. Miller, Moore...all kind of repulsive to some degree.

lol I was mainly being sarcastic about his tendency to put himself in everything he does...I stopped reading ennis around the time he stopped caring and wrote german ww1 pilots using irish slang.

And I agree with the 90's set being creeps though I exclude Morrison from that. He is eccentric but not horrible and big on consent.
