Assault shuttle
I am experiencing that, my assault shuttles always come back to their carriers, once the carriers get some new order to maneuver. So right now I must park them somewhere and hope that the carriers are not detected before the raid is done. And they always get detected. Furthermore there seems to be no way to start the shuttles while the time is accelerated.
Any help? Cheers!

Re: Assault shuttle
Any movement at full speed will cause riders, drones, shuttles, etc. to come back and dock. You should be able to move your ships at normal speed or slow speed without causing riders to dock, although they will run out of endurance eventually and come back on their own. (For the same reason you can't launch them in accelerated time -- they would have to go too far to get to their target.)

Re: Assault shuttle
yes maximum speed should NOT be used as your standard move speed as it also blocks weapon fire

Re: Assault shuttle
Note that you can launch the shuttles during the 3 seconds at the start of the combat before you get into accelerated time. This allows you to easily glass a barely protected homeworld by staying outside of planetary missile range.
Re: Assault shuttle
This might be useful against the AI, but I can't see it working against players who know how to shoot down the shuttles

Re: Assault shuttle
That's why I said barely protected : if they don't have something more than the naval base and a couple of sats there, even a human player won't be able to do much.
Re: Assault shuttle
I can't think of too many situations in a MP game where a homeworld will be that poorly protected.

Re: Assault shuttle
Hi again,
well, I like sneaking around with my assault carriers while the other ships lure away the defence fleet. Then I am a stone's throw away from the enemy planet, unable to start the shuttles. I usually then sacrefice one (support) ship to trigger normal time. Thats kind of annoying

Your fleet that is going to attack the plant should be escorted by another combat fleet. Let the combat fleet deall with the hostile ships then send in your invasion fleet and add around 4 PD cruisers to it. Even if they have a full complement of deffens sats you will still be able to fly right up to there plantent and laugh at there attemps to shoot you.
you think you a real "bleep" solders you "bleep" plastic solders don't wory i will make you in to real "bleep" solders!! "bleep" plastic solders

Re: Assault shuttle
Yes, sob, one can do that, but it is supposed to be a mean and cowardly hit and run attack, not an honest full scale invasion
. anyway..
Yesterday my assault shuttles were not able to fly around/above/below a station in their path. They just tried to fly through it, what didn't work though they tried really long. I could reproduce this bug(?) easily. May that's something for the next update
Cheers

Re: Assault shuttle
I don't know how long it has been there, but I finally found the button to start the shuttles, while the time is accelerated (right, above the list of ships). Thanks a lot for implementing that!
