ScoSteSal118 wrote:"Liir achieve “Elder” status after having lived for more than three hundred years. At this point they are over 5 meters in length and usually weigh well over 200 kilograms" from http://sots2.rorschach.net/The_Liirian_Social_Life

Seeing as the Elders that are nearing Suul'ka size are the ones getting so big that they are barely able to survive under the planet's gravity, and listed that there are unknown but alive great elders measuring "many meters," it is safe to say that a size comparable to the Suul'ka would be "many many meters". Seeing as how it takes a Liir over 300 years (turns) just to get to 5m, I really doubt that what you are talking about is feasible in the context of the in-game time flow. Also, they cannot do so without becoming the monster they live to fight, Suul'ka.

I started a game playing as the liir (and I have noticed this when playing as the morrigi), their admirals tend to exceed 200 years easily, and (I am guessing here that a turn is supposed to simulate a year), 200 years later these Liir would be around 400 years old, officially 'Elder' status.(This is assuming that there are Liir that grow that old that are not in the military and join up when they have gotten powerful in pisonics and large in stature)

This being the case, would it not be feasible for larger Liir to be available? I am not talking Suul'ka size, but Cruiser or Dreadnaught-sized Liir dressed up in battle suits similar to the Suul'ka's suits would be invaluable on a battlefield, or even for construction or colonization projects (Yes, I know they are sterile after that age).

...Maybe a bio-tech research project would allow the Liir to grow in size faster, allowing such creations to come to pass... ( maybe in version 3.0+ of the game)

War is for the young. Always, for every race. That is one of the things that makes all wars so horrible.

I imagine such an endeavor would be a horrific perversion to the Liir.

Well... No worse than the concept of developing a way for your grandparents to grow into bodybuilders so that they can don power armour and go out to kill people for you.

From the Liir PoV, that's pretty damn bad. Especially the part where they don unaided space flight capable power armour and go out to kill people because they feel like it.

That was my point. From my perspective that would be a pretty cruel thing to do to your elders.
Black gets a pass as he made the decision for the entire species to mobilize. You don't do that then sit back in your ocean and chill.

Most world leaders would tend to disagree I think...

Most world leaders aren't star destroyer sized Psionic Death Machines either...

(Actualy Im not sure how big the Black actualy is but all of the Suul'ka are at least 1.2km in length...)

Could I get a title for that. Sounds like an interesting read.
(Though it may take awhile to get to. *stares with terror at multiple page recommended book-list.)

I believe she's referring to Old Man's War by John Scalzi.

Indeed. A great book. I read it aloud to my family, and gave the narrator a funny accent.

What in-game effects does the whole thing about bio-warfare have? He doesn't have an unusual number of modules to launch biomissiles from, and there is no psionic plague ability afaik.
