Favorite nugget of SOTSverse lore?

Post by Dillweed » Thu Oct 01, 2015 3:07 pm

This board doesn't look super busy but oh well.

I think mine is the end of the nuclear wars on Earth. IIRC Rome took a near miss and was heavily damaged. Cardinals were dying fighting the fires from walls of Vatican City. The Pope sees that and starts handing out Excommunications like Oprah with new cars and ends up bringing everyone to the negotiating table.

I liked that moment myself as well ;) Some people gave Ms Dembo a lot of grief over the involvement of the Vatican into the story line of the sotsverse but I thought it was a very cool connection to make in a post apocalyptic/save civilization milieu where most writers either through it to biker gangs or magic AI's.

*chuckles* I am still here, and still appreciate feedback. When people like something, I'm more likely to write more extensively about it. :)

I quite like the Pope-mobile.

I love all of the lore regarding the Liir, with my favourite bit being the great secret and that 'innocent' game of hide the thought that all the young ones play. (The Deacon's Tale has a lovely, subtle reference to hide the thought. Maybe not so subtle though, I guess)

No, the metaphors were not that subtle, but it's a struggle to find visual metaphors to describe psionic concepts. :)
