Benford can write people better than Mecron implies. Just not all the time... Timescape was rather good.

not sure if someone mentioned this allready
but for the liir researching antimatter let's me use flickerwarp engines
and researching flickerwarp let's me use curvature compensator engines
so what use is the curvature compensator tech? (i assume it's a bug)

Besides acting as a prerequisites for Spectre Camouflage, does researching Node Mew have any other benefits?

Will Human and Zuul Node drive technologies become available to each other?

I highly doubt it.

What I would love though is to have the drive tech tree stretched more sideways for each energy age.

Odd question. If Sol force FTL is to use natural gravity wakes from stars and planets. Could they sooner or later find like super highways linking galaxy's? What happens if they hit a black hole? If the node focus is strong enoguth would it just catapult them along?

A black hole is pretty much just eats everything up in the sense that when matter reaches a certain point upon approaching a black hole time stops or so the theory goes. Time is not a relative thing and is affected by gravity. Gravitational bodes such as the sun slow time down move away from the sun and everything starts to speed up the further away from said gravitational body the faster time goes or so goes the theory. Node space circumvents this and allows humans to travel from one point to another in a relatively short time according to earth time. A black hole would send off A whole bunch of warning signs in node space and might even disrupt any node path that could exist thus preventing accidental collision with a black hole.

Although it is entirely believable that a black hole could potentially disrupt node paths and could be part of the reason you sometimes see node path dead ends playing as a human. I am also sure the Zuul figured out gravitational anomalies in node space on the level a black hole would produce are bad and they would likely steer clear.

I doubt it would end or be destroyed or anything dangerous. Merely the nodeline would just have it's exit further out where the gravitational forces would bring it back to real space.
Every time you use 'fluff' for lore a Kerberos developer dies. And they are already an endangered species.

Sure that someone must have asked this before, but what do Liir flicker drives teleport through? Also, is nodespace and the space on the "other" side of the meniscus the same?

Meh, I have to admit that after getting involved into this topic: viewtopic.php?f=37&t=31986
I can´t stop thinking about the flicker drive and the impact such a drive would have on certain things.

What happens to balistic projectiles? Will such a projectile get cut into nano slices while crossing the "flicker-field-barrier" or do the ships stop to flicker just long enough to make their shots?
Or what happens with guided projectiles such as missiles? Will circuits or conducting paths get broken due to a lot of missing atoms?
May such questions be one reason why Liir prefer energy based weapons (probably high-frequency)? ;)
And wouldnt it be hard to recognise these ships visually with your eyes or technically by the use of sensors that work with em-radiation with frequencies lower than the ship flickers? :?:

you need to take the speed of the flicker into account...millions of blinks per second

Hmm, if a whale flickers 10 million times per second, each flicker is 300 meters for 10x the speed of light travel.

Sounds difficult to hit!

Imagine emitting a 100 microsecond laser pulse. The ship would have flickered 1000 times covering 300 km!

Messy
