Sooo are we* supposed to have a N-pathing Fusion engine or not?

If not, then it makes no sense to have N-pathing available before AM.

*humans of course, who else.

Also conservation of mass/energy is in terms of the "multiverse" as opposed to just the visible spacetime layer.

This much I already assumed, what with Node drives and gates and Warp fields effectively removing matter from our spacetime. It's not destroyed, it's just somewhere else.

Hey, does this mean it's possible to extract "free" energy out of Node space? ("Free" in the sense that, to an observer unaware of the existence of Node space, it's coming out of nowhere).

So if space is multidimensional as you stated above then that leads to the fact that there are other dimensions layering our own in the SOTS universe thus if one developed the proper technologies then they could breach this barrier and enter another dimension or even harness it for power. Similar to the node space idea above and thus could bring about some speculation on other aspects of the game and where it is going.

Yeah. I mean, I thought this was what was happening with Node drives.

yes its possible but its not magic per se...as in I can "Access" the ocean and there is power of a sort there...but I just can plunk in a reciever and off I go...I need something complex like a tide turbine...So while you can access another level of reality that has its own energy.,,pulling it out in a useful form is another issue.

Oh comeon. He's a horrible writer but his books have some of the grandest ideas I've seen in sci-fi...

Like the one where he has people dig trenches in asteroids?

I'm quite fond of the Killer B's (Benford, Brin, and Bear).
My Morrigi fleet-speed calculator for SotS Prime
The Holy Lands - Hivers vs. the infidel Liir (and others)
Currently working on getting my board game Dragon Raiders into final condition before going to Kickstarter...

I quite like the last two as well but have to admit this thread is the first time I ever heard of Benford.
