Yeah the description is fine, what's vague is what it actually does. Sadly not familiar enough with the coding, but from other files and ingame experience, does nothing but be a roll in the way of telepathy.

Also, on that topic, why does the Suul'ka Horde have such a punishing technological bottleneck (they have only 20% chance to actually get the Farsense) on the way to the telepathy-related psi-tech's, which one would think should be their specialty?

For me the description is perfectly clear (maybe I worded my first post badly). I just have no idea what it does mechanically. Like what powers it unlocks or bonuses it gives or whatever.

Is that what it does? From the description I thought it had something to do with surveying planets.

As far as I know, Farsense allows you to see what is going on with planets in systems which you don't have a ship or a station. I'm not sure what the range is.

I'm guessing Mecron was thinking about the research bonus you get with Telepathy.

Pretty much what I was thinking, it's just probably not particularly effective. Can we not see the details change per turn, once the system has been surveyed, regardless of having a ship in the system? I know I've had that happen without having said system be within sensor range, but I don't remember if I had Farsense in those instances.

I was trying to experiment with it last night to get more exact information, but in all my saved games I failed the roll for Farsense. :( I'm going to start a game as the Liir tonight to try it out.

But going off of my hazy memory of times I've researched it in the past, I think Farsense gives you the same type of information you would get with an allied planet or on an enemy planet when you have one of your ships in the system. So more detail than just what you see via sensors, though again I haven't confirmed that with my play recently.
