Actually, if I remember correctly, the liir drive tech is specifically said to NOT be based on sul'ka engines, but on some other random piece of sul'ka tech that had nothing to do with engines whatsoever...

Sorry to disappoint you. But the rorschach wiki specifically said old drives.

Source: http://sots.rorschach.net/Category:Liir

Rorschach WIkipedia wrote:The current state of Liirian technology is a result of their successful rebellion. The former slaves of the Suul'ka quickly absorbed the abandoned technology of their masters and have adapted the old drives, guns and orbital elevators to their own use. Driven by natural curiosity and the desire to preempt any further assaults from the stars, the Liir have now begun exploring space.

That entry from the wiki was pulled straight from the beginning of the Liir thread (written by Erinys), and it seems to indicate that the Suul'ka drives were used for something, but not necessarily that it was for drive systems. :) It's the "to their own uses" phrase that's a bit ambiguous.

If you read it carefully, it doesn't say that. It says that they adapted the drives, not that they adapted them AS drives.

And yes, you'll want to poke around in the SOTS1 Races forum Liir threads. The Liir flickerwarp drives are definitely an adaptation of a Suulka NON-drive technology.

This smacks alot like a very old thread of me complaining about a Spathi Death Ray where the whole thread decended into Liirian stutterwarp-disintegration

Who would mistreat the noble Alot with such undeserved smacking?
