I'm far from 100% since I didn't do the mod, and haven't tried it out either, but I assume
that it was done through swapping files between the races, and renaming them.

Ah. Ok that makes sense now.

So does anyone know how to add more avatars/badges than those that are already in game?
So rather than replacing old avatars one could add your own?
Just adding them in the faction file doesn't seem to work...

I've been trying, but no luck so far. I suspect that we need to get into the Materials files as well.

I think I figgured it out. You need to add the reference in the base/ui/skin1/skin1.xml file also, not just the faction file.

I did a quick test throwing in a a badge and did as suggested here (adding the line in the skin1.xml) and the new badge does in fact show up as a selectable badge in game without replacing an old one.

I probably should have posted how to do it when I figured it out last year, since I forgot in the mean time, and almost all of my old mod work was deleted when I reinstalled my OS as I didn't think I'd need it again. ;)

It been almost 2 years since I last saw this badge in game

Image

Since I had to dump my HDD lost all my SotS 1 Game progress :(

:edit: going to say that I used Photoshop CS 5 for this.. so yes Photoshop also works. ;p

:edit: :edit: Adding the badge line to the file below will also allow it show up in game without over writing current files.

Code: Select all

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\sword of the stars ii\assets\base\factions\human\faction.xml

Oh also I couldn't possibly leave today without this one :awesome:

Adding or replacing?

Can't add new ones as of yet, but you can swap out existing badges for your own.

thats wrong you can in fact add new badges without overwriting others.

step 1:
convert the badge using the sotsify code from gammapalladin and put it in the approriate "base/faction/XXXX/badges" directory.
for LOA the files go in "assets/eof/factions/loa/badges"

step 2:
find the section for badges in "base/ui/skin1/skin1.xml" and add the name of the badge there similar to the way the other badges are listed
NOTE - LOA is actually listed in the same file. If you use notepad++ the lines you need to find are located around line 1860

step 3:
to be safe also add the file in to the "base/factions/XXXX/faction.xml" file
for LOA it is located at "assets/eof/factions/loa/faction.xml"

Tried to look at what source image should look like but collided with this error:
Unsotsify.exe says "libgcc_s_dw2-1.dll not found, can't start program"

are you using download version 2.1 that is on i think page 4? if you just downloaded version 2.0 it did not include all the link libraries in the compile. look for gammas post with the v.2.1 zip attached to it.

if that is what you used...you would have to get help from gamma
