Instructions: (Required- Recommended)
New - Title(text), description(text), NumPlayers(2-8), PreviewTexture(file path)
Open - Choose a .starmap (or .mg3 - not implemented)
Save - Saves as .starmap (or .mg3 - not implemented)
*******under construction*******

Known Bugs:
Some stars get disconnected from the node network.
Some stars will have more connections than the max allowed connections to compensate for and prevent disconnected nodes.

Todo List
v1.0:
Save node lines in a temp file or save a compiled release file.
Add, modify, delete, show, and hide Stellarbodies.
Add, modify, delete Planets, Moons, and Orbits in Systems.
v1.x
Better node generation or pathfinding algorithm to connect all nodes.
Populate entries with lists of available selections, where appropriate: types, subtypes, etc.
v?
Figure out why vertex point to screen points wont calculate correctly when using perspective camera.

Version History:
v0.9.7
(Added) Terrains, stars, and nodelines are all related. Move a terrain and everything follows.
(Added) Nodelines: add and delete.
(Added) Terrains: add, modify, delete.
(Fixed) Minimum angle wasn't applied correctly.

v0.9.5
(Added) Systems: add, modify, delete.
(Changed) Changed formula to allow for alpha channels.
(Changed) Terrain bubbles are now transparent and look much nicer.
(Fixed) Adding system at 0,0,0 needs to have the 0s retyped, auto entered didn't work.
(Fixed) Terrain bubbles not centered.

v0.9.1
(Fixed) bug preventing opening or creating new map when one is already open.

v0.9
Colored starting locations.
Manually add stars and terrains.
Show and hide terrains.

v0.2
Click a star for it's information.
Preparing for star system creation and integration into terrains.

v0.1 (Initial Release)
Random nodeline generation implemented.
3D model of galaxy working.

Heya!

I just gave your generator a try, and it doesn't seem to work for me... The main area of the screen just stays black, and I don't really understand what it does. It asks me to open a starmap before being able to generate one - and then, when I do that, click generate, and save the file, it seems to be pretty much the same as the map I opened.

Some documentation would be nice ;)

Stays black?
It needs .net 4.0.
Should have a 3d model of all the stars.
I'll definitely be adding more documentation soon.

******************
V0.2 released.
Brief initial documentation added.
Screenshots of current version added.
One todo item completed:
Click on star system to view its information.
One todo item added:
Allow modders to save node lines in a temp file, then create a compiled release file.

v0.9 released

Not many major features remaining.
Most notably the ability to modify current objects
and the ability to save node lines then view them
before releasing your maps.

Did you add any stars after making a new map?
Does it stay black if you open a map?

Found a bug when adding a star at coords 0,0,0.

---Released v0.9.1--- (Fixed a bug)
There was a bug that made it so you could only load or create one map then you'd need to restart the program.

Those are the terrain bubbles.
Click Hide and they'll disappear.

Should I set them off by default?

I've been trying to make them transparent.. but it looks like I'll have to redo the backbuffer formula.
Which I don't have much knowledge of.

*Changed the name from Generator to Maker, since it doesn't actually generate maps.*

maybe best to :D

also any chance of adding a 3d grid to help with planet placement?

How do you edit a planet thats already there?

Hmm, I'm not sure about a grid.
But there will be a list of stars by terrain, and the coords are relative to the terrain (though there are also absolute coords).
From that list you could infer where you want them.

Editing current stars and such will be enabled in the next update.

This is my first time coding anything graphical. :P
I'd like all the stars to have their names and guids under them and the name of the terrains at their center points.
But that's way above me right now. I'm going to have to go buy a textbook or something on this. Google has not been nice to me.

It looks great. What programming language are you using?

Thank you. C#

-----v0.9.5 Released----
Terrain bubbles are now transparent and centered.
Systems can be deleted, added, and edited.
Two systems can be selected at a time.
Edit button only works on the first one selected (colored blue).
Click Systems button for a view of all systems sorted by Terrain.
Systems can only be deleted from the Systems listing.
Guid can only be modified via the edit button.

Phew.. I didn't feel well so I didn't go to school..
Instead I managed to do the following:

----- Released v0.9.7-----
(Added) Terrains, stars, and nodelines are all related. Move a terrain and everything follows.
(Added) Nodelines: add and delete.
(Added) Terrains: add, modify, delete.
(Fixed) Minimum angle wasn't applied correctly.

I've been using Clusters as my test map.
With the angles working properly you can get some very interesting networks. Though to really get full utilization of it I'll need to create a pathfinding algorithm.

Never done one before, but I'm thinking of taking a random star, marking it and those that connect to it with a variable.
Then repeating, using a new variable each random star and checking for the prior variables in their connections, if they are found then all of them are set to the new variable. Removing the selected star each time to prevent it from randomly being selected.
Tracking the variables to see which have been overwritten.
At the end of the initial list, generate the distances between the stars that aren't connected to those that are and connect the closest star to it that joins it to the network.
This is just a random thought I came up with while releasing this version. I'd love to hear your ideas/thoughts regarding this kind of algorithm.
