Hi,

thanks for your answer. I've cleaned the complete SOTS2 folder and than I installed a clean copy. I've used the installer.
Also i see your missing the ai/materials.xml file


Yes, the file is missing but i don't no why.
Hmm in the zip download i also did not find the materials.xml in the ai folder.
Can I add the file manualy?

EDIT:
I removed the mod and the ai/materials.xml file is still missing, but the game starts without issues.
I belive the file is not needed.

maybe i am a little bit stupid, but which installer do you mean?
I downloaded the zip file, and now?


edit: just unpack does not work

Tyron- The way the installer works, if the file is there it shouldn't wipe it out. I took away as many of the unmodded files as i could find to save space in the installer for that reason. Also did you disable the menu background combat? That causes occasional CTD crashes with this mod for some reason but it is random so if you haven't, I'd try and boot it up a few times until you get to the main menu then shut it down or turn it off manually in your config files if that is possible.

Speedy- Try this.

1. Install JSGME using the separate installation option directly into sotsii folder. For example mine is E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Sword of the Stars II
2. Launch JSGME it should create a MODS folder inside SOTSII. Looks like this: E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Sword of the Stars II\MODS
3. Download my file and put the unzipped folder into the MODS folder with no changes to its structure at all and no folders between it and the MODS folder.
4. Launch JSGME application and you should see SOTSII Reforged as an available MOD. Click the > button to move it into activated (should take a few seconds to move over).
5. Close JSGME and launch SOTSII. Should boot up just fine. Post your crash if your getting one and i'll take a look.

ok, i did exactly what you wrote in the post. but it doesn't work.

which files do you need?

i've turned off the load screen combat. Now the game works for me.

Speedy -
Looks like the same issue. Turn off menu background combat and it should work. Might take a few tries to get past the ctd but once you do go to options and shut that off and should work fine.

Mecron- is there anywhere to see what ships the cinematic is looking for? I have never seen it in game but would love to make sure.

To an extent.

First, you must have at least one of these weapons set to "visible".
A weapon with a Beam type payload,
A weapon with a Bolt type payload,
A weapon with an Emitter type payload,
A weapon with a Missile type payload,
A weapon with a Torpedo type payload.

Next, it looks for the following ship sections in all playable factions:

dn_cmd_assault.section
dn_mis_armor.section
dn_eng_fusion.section
cr_cmd.section
cr_cmd_assault.section
cr_cmd_hammerhead.section

It also looks for the following:

cr_mis_armor.section
cr_mis_blazer.section
cr_mis_cnc.section
cr_mis_barrage.section
cr_mis_projector.section
cr_eng_fusion.section

That's all the information I can find about it - I did attempt to look into the dump files but my knowledge of the program is too limited. I can find what it puts into the error log but I can't determine how to find the section where it tells you where\what the offending file is.

I've renamed some of the section files so I'm assuming that is the issue. Shouldn't cause a crash in game as none of the faction section files are calling the old names. Thanks for taking a peek Rossinna.

Its what the ingame files say about it. Couldn't find anything else relevant.
The only info I found is that it isn't a missing weapon type - I installed a clean version of your mod and it crashed, so put in my PH weapons and it still crashed, so it isn't that.
Depending on my mood tomorrow, I'll see about going through each section one by one ingame to see if any crash upon being put into the design screen.
