Well this thread seems to have been a bit derailed. Anyway, recently upgraded to a GTX 970 and tried the cloak again. I still get the wireframe thing some of the time, the rest of the time the ship renders as a green translucent version of itself (I still don't know if this is how it should look.) The upside is that my fps no longer tanks when a cloaked ship is rendered onscreen. This could be because the 970 has a bit more power than the 660 or maybe there's been a recent driver update that partially addressed the issue.

green translucent is the right look.
