Well - I generally get all the salvage I could ever want through planet glassing, so I don't mind if that is a bug or not :)

I also don't play where I wait until I have an uber mega fleet before I go on the warpath, so my fleets will often be 'under size'. Sure, the spearhead fleet needs to be as tough as I can afford, but there is no time like 10 turns ago to be wiping out your enemies :P I rarely ever see LVs in my games.

I consider myself unlucky if I cant be at war by turn 8.

I have managed turn 3 on the knife fight map though :)

My current Brawl game set me between a time bomb (Liir) and Zull (missile spam all the way - did i mention no Laser-PD and Phallanx failed - as did all 3 shieldtechs). So i took my timebomb into a war glassing their planets and taking them while getting only rubish salavage (laser PD seems to much to ask :( ).

Now the Human expensinist declared war on liir after they are half dead (lost homeplanet turn 35) and going on a limb with 2 "stable" systems.
Unfotunatly the Humans planed their war against liir ... 4 invasion fleets (assaults!) and 3 combat fleets (2 laser, 1 missile spammer) at the border going for the dive ...
While i struggle with the range and need 2 fleets to defend vs the Zuul.

All the while 4 other players go unbothered ... oh well.


Back to topic: I like to play medium/larger maps so peace is more commen the first 50 turns. Unfortunatly that means higher tier fleets and counters needs to be done ... or a gamble if it is peacefull long enough to reap the sow of trade ...
