Who needs a marine?!

Post by Sayeth » Tue Mar 12, 2013 2:58 pm

Now entering floor 16 with my marine (level 14) - my inventory contains: Brawler suit, Hiver exo suit with +10 finesse modifier, hiver exo suit with + 10 strength modifier, auto rifle full of penetration, damage and accuracy addons, laser pistol, durablade, assault rifle (kinda half-full of bad modifiers :D ) and autopistol.

I laugh at all the monsters trying to kill me and ending up doing next to nothing. Also killed my first Von Neumann with a carefully placed EMP grenade before he was able to shoot. Only once have I been in the status of "bleeding." Wish me luck in the future! I will post some screens once I get home

P.S. Playing normal difficulty

Adding screenshots.

This was taken when I discovered a stash containing Hiver Exosuit and right next to it --- Brawler suit!

Image

Nine floors later full of whacking robots and organics alike with durablade I found another hiver exosuit and filled my inventory with useful and useless stuff!

Image

And this is how Major Sayeth Aether looks like in his shining brawler suit! Lets take a deep breath and head towards the other half of The Pit!

"This journey is taking far too long. Toshiko, I know you are there, I have read several messages left with your signature. If you read this, know that I am coming and no Morrigi, Tarka, Zuul or any other goddamn space beast mutant is going to stop me!" The Marine has never been fond of computers, The Pit has taught him vastly more about them then he have learned during his whole life in academy. Yet now he had to learn how to operate them as they proved to be very useful. Even now he tried to send his message through the systems, using hand-crafted tools and digital assitants. ERROR ERROR. The computer started to blink and alarms were sound. Travis Hudson forgot about the console and took up his trusty customized Auto-rifle. His eyes scanned the doors for any robot-security that will surely come, yet instead, the alarms were silenced at once and a taunting computer voice announced. "You have one new Message from... The System Administrator."

The run has went quite well so far and I have reached the end of 20 floor, (following a list of hard late enemies, possible spoilers for those who have not got so far) Conquering 3 Von Neumanns (one of them disintegrated my 2 raw meats), 2 Heavy Morrigi drones, A Hiver Commander, 2 Heavy Security Drones Mk.1, A CyberJaeger Bear and 2 Scraphulk Poohs. All these listed are my priority focus as they shown to be not messing around and have been causing more or less trouble.

Image

As you can see, even though 5 floors before I have had Might 100, now I have more base Might and less added, the reason is that several augmentation stations decided to give me the least important skill at this time *sigh*. (following a list of interesting items, may be spoilerish for some) Yet, At 16 floor I grabbed a Liir Health Medallion which helps with some of my health problems and fancy-fabulous blue-stylish techno-punk.... Ehm... Phase gloves which help a lot with certain tasks requiring... Dexterous hands! There! I managed to be somehow less spoilerish. Aside from that I found a scattergun which finally put some of the shotgun ammo to use and laser rifle which will help me with those pesky Hopkinites.

Image

One thing I should mention - I almost had to resort to eating ingredients but fortunately last of the unexplored rooms held an undamaged cooker which I promtly used to make myself some yumy wiches. ... Omnomnom. I still have reserves but finding more food should be my main focus. as I have yet to use a medkit (dat Medallion of healthy lifestyle!).

Anyway, let me know if my roleplaying writing is fine or not and ask me questions if you like. Tomorrow I am not sure if I'll be able to continue and make another part but I should hang around the forums from time to time. It is now getting late and this text is no doubt full of errors and bad jokes. Sayeth Aether out!

Well, I would like to but I do not know how. I am using my "Print Screen" key and then pasting my whole desktop image into Paint, cropping the image (since I play in window) and posting it here. Usually there is some dedicated print screen button in-game so that Steam recognizes it and allows me to upload it into hub, right? I have honestly never done anything regarding Steam screenshots.

On Steam, you can click "Steam" in the top left, then "Settings", then "IN-GAME", and there is a place where you can set your Screenshot shortcut key(s). You can also have it play a sound/display a notification so you can be sure it's working properly via some checkboxes on the same tab

Thanks! Noted, once I return back to the game I'll photo my marine. Hopefully he will say "Hiver Cheese!" to the camera

If anyone could read this, please know that I died to save my planet and my love, none of which I will see ever again...

At first the food was plentiful, weapons appeared left and right yet ammo was too scarce...

Image

Yet even when I cleared the rooms of enemies, there were still no signs of ammunition and to make things even worse, my trusty durablade broke on me, leaving me with only fists to defend myself...

Image

Monsters were lurking around every corner, ambushing and shooting, clawing or biting at me without mercy...

Image

And soon enough, I knew that this is where my story will end. Surrounded by filth, robots and crazy aliens...

One concussion grenade has knocked Travis Hudson unconscious into a dreamless sleep from which he never awakened.

Thanks! I'll surely share more of my runs in the future if I'll get lucky enough to get past at least 15th floor 8)

Wow that seems to have truly been an awesome run. For what it's worth, I liked reading your RP posts. I had a very good run as well earlier this day, might post it after I had a nights rest. Your screenshots are really great too. Way to go! *cheer* :>
