New Suul'Ka Reference? [Msg 376]

Post by The Apprentice » Fri Sep 26, 2014 6:16 am

Message 376 (from the new DLC, I think) references an entity known as the "Destroyer." Since it refers to the Destroyer as a she, I wondered if it might be one of the previously unidentified Suul'ka? I would have thought the Kraken, otherwise. :)

Does anyone know what the Destroyer references?

Could be the Usurper, since he was once a she and wants to killify the other suul'ka

That's possible, sure. My understanding of the Usurp was that his goal was to kill the other suul'ka and take over the Horde Zuul- not destruction of other sapients on different worlds.

The message also implied that those worlds had built up a mythology over time towards the Destroyer, and the Usurp is younger than even the Black. Again, could be misunderstanding. :)

There's more than a few multi-limbed deities on our own little sphere that are also known as destroyers.

The hindu goddess Kali is a deity of destruction but also, occasionally, depicted as a loving mother. Occasionally.

Can mercy be found in the heart of her who was born of the stone?
Were she not merciless, would she kick the breast of her lord?
Men call you merciful, but there is no trace of mercy in you, Mother.
You have cut off the heads of the children of others, and these you wear as a garland around your neck.
It matters not how much I call you "Mother, Mother." You hear me, but you will not listen.

I thought of the Indian sub-continent when I read the message. Does this imply a new big-bad that is NOT a Liir elder gone mad?

No, the message is about the Siren, the Suul'ka who desires to be loved and adored as a motherly figure by her followers, in addition to being worshiped and feared (as all Suul'ka desire).

Thanks for clarifying!

*makes mental note to update wiki with new title for Siren*

Y'know, I always found that particular depiction bizarrely amusing:
All the heads that Kali have taken have thick, luxurious mustaches, while Shiva is clean shaven. Guess we know Kali's opinion on facial hair.
