Hiver workers are totally playable. 70% of all Hivers are Workers!

I was gonna say... while it's true that most Hiver Workers would probably not be suited for an adventuring life, some would certainly have the skills and possibly the inclination to go that route. They are individuals, after all; they just don't have one of the more powerful biological urges driving them. ;)

Besides, player characters in any game setting are going to generally be beyond the norm. Most Humans would not be suited for the adventuring life, either; why should Workers be any different? :)

Party full of Hiver workers up against a Suul'ka plot could make a good CoC-styled adventure :)

Fractious Allies -- Hiver vs. Hiver, with allies
Who Let The Bugs Out -- Hiver vs. Tarka and Zuul
Tarka Ascendant -- Tarka vs. Hiver and Zuul

Go? Or go mad? Or go and go mad? I think we have a winner in that last one... ;)

Actually, that's a good question. In terms of being an adversary for a small group of PCs, would a Suul'ka be more along the lines of Sauron (a super-powerful evil you can't confront directly but is relatively understandable) or more along the lines of a cosmic horror that's simply unknowable? Or would it depend on the Suul'ka in question and how they approach interacting with the universe around them?

Or would it be more like Cthulhu? A super-powerful evil that, the more you discover about it, the more insane you become? Or is that too reminiscent of CoC?

Cthulhu would be the most classic example of a cosmic horror. :)

Is it sad I'm now picturing a ton of trillsby-wearing Filmes Noir hivers workers private investigators?
