Peacekeepr is your friend, unless you have a larger fleet yourself.

Interestingly enough, I tried several times to take out it's eye desintegrator beam turret, but never managed to (despite hitting it with a barrage of cutting beams and other heavy weapons). Just how many HP does that turret have????

Leap mine destroyers. The Peacekeeper does not, currently, possess any point defence capability.

Indestructable turrets with uber-powerful weapons....It's just....cheap.

Really, I wish every weapon could be destroyed. Cutting beams, torpedo launchers, railcannons - EVERYTHING.

Well, I wish NO weapon could be destroyed (intentionally).
ErinysSolForce Intelligence has great difficulty penetrating Liir society to that depth, for obvious reasons. fibioLack of scuba gear?

Why? Stripping turrets is a sound strategy. Besides, ti makes little sense that weapon systems are incapable of being damaged.

I personally hope the refugees will be expanded upon later as a completely fresh playable race. Although we're all absorbed by the Suul'ka conflict, it's not the story to end all stories in the universe. There are other tales to be told that are just as intriguing.

I agree with this, I enjoy the refugees encounter and would love to know who they are and why are they refugees in the first place. I could see them growing into a player race. First one ship, then a small fleet, then a colony gets established. Whatever horrible disaster/enemy made them refugees could make an interesting new encounter too.

It occurs to me that the refugees rather than running from the Suul'ka, could be the Suul'ka or another Zuul-like race designed for intelligence gathering.

Dunno. They seem to be another race that suffered from some hundred years long tragedy.

It's either very optimistic or very pessimistic, depending on which race you are playing at the time, who your opponents are, and whether it's a MP game. ;)
Zed's TARs (sample):
Fractious Allies -- Hiver vs. Hiver, with allies
Who Let The Bugs Out -- Hiver vs. Tarka and Zuul
Tarka Ascendant -- Tarka vs. Hiver and Zuul
