And as usual Steam has no idea what's going on. I guess I should look forward to sots 2 more than the 1.8 patch if Steam is concerned.

Anyway, I guess I'l see you in multiplayer in a month or so. :|

Heh, for not big name big budget games, Steam sorta ignors them.

Though I wonder how hard it was to get a place in steam for SotS. I know a few small dev teams that have gotten stonewalled trying to get their games on steam.

Just relax people :)
A few days wait won't kill any of us, sheesh.
I'm also eagerly waiting for GG to get the patch up, but 1.7.2 plays just fine in the meantime 8)

The patch for ANY is not there yet, though.
Must... resist... rebuying... :?

I failed my Will save. :(

Copy #3!

Today's save failed due to it being a rainy sunday afternoon.

Kerberos deserves it, anyway

Astarot if you want absolutely everything there is for sots then get the new Complete Collection. In terms of actual gameplay for all intents and purposes just download the 1.8 update.

...and now goes back and ponders exactly what kind of pm astax should really get.

Thank You for the info, Mecron. Guess i'll take the Complete Collection, then. I'm not usually shelling out money for a game twice. But i think, years of support for a game need to be acknowledged somehow. It's easy to see, that you and your team believe, in what you are doing.

Now enough of this gushing. Get back to work and finish.... NORTHSTAR

You mean you want them to take your money and RENT you a game that you could have bought anywhere else for the same price? If you want a client like Steam but the flexability pf GG then use Impulse. To be honest the GG "clientless" web-based service isn't too bad as long as you remember to check back for updates periodically. It's the closest thing to buying a retail version out of all the digital download providers.

I'd suggest gamersgate as well, even if they did drag their feet a bit with the patch this time around. There are some good reasons.
First, you can save your installer and burn it to a disc or put it on a thumb drive or whatever. Even if Gamersgate ceases to exist, you'll still be able to install and play.
Second, GG is owned by Paradox, which is Kerberos' publisher. I'm not sure, but I expect there's more money in it for Kerberos when buying from GG.
The main reason I'd avoid steam like the plague is that they are VERY slow to apply patches for all but top dollar titles.

GG all the way. Though I'm rather annoyed with them about this latest update... As for Steam, I personally avoid it like the plague because it wants me to install their thing on my computer.

I've found Steam remarkably benign for all the terrible things people say it does.

Still, I did get the complete edition via GG, and I prefer to buy via Impulse over Steam or D2D.

Heya

My own take on the delay at Paradox relates more to the brouhaha surrounding the release of 1.7.2

I am inclined to think that Paradox letting other providers have the opportunity to release the update before the "generic" patcher is released by GG is in some part a concession to that "issue".

Plus, it should mean that random people not pulling the patcher out of the Patches Scrolls et al to apply to Steam or Impulse installs should reduce those distributors support calls to a minimum.

Love the new scenario.

Thanks again for the continued support which has grown a great game into a spectacular one. :D

The simple solution releasing a patch would be to make sure all digital platforms are ready to let it out at the same time.

Easier said than done. Dox has 0 control over when the other distributors "get around" to the updates. Especially since they are but 1 publisher in many, all of whom would like to be treated like the number 1 priority.
