Or like being able to convert a higher percent of the energy from the annihilation to useable power. Or better capacitors. Or better superconductors. And all manner of things that are more interesting than yet another type/tier of energy generation method.

It's rather hard, even impossible to enrich antimatter and even so, it wouldn't be of much help because the amounts of energy released are astronomical. The problem is how to "catch" all of that energy. And therefore, antimatter refinement will most likely focus on this subject.

There are news ticker in SotS Prime that tell you if there are any new technology available for research. A good example would be researching Fusion then the turn right after you get a list of all new links popping up. For SotS II most likely will have something similar if not exact same.

Perhaps the word you are looking for is "contain"? "catching the energy is rather simple, but if you aren´t able to harness, contain and utilize it safely...
something like this is likely to happen.

Sorry, my bad, you're right. Even now we're able to "catch" lightnings but we cannot "store" the energy gained, thus it dissipates. Storing and channeling AM with enough precision that it won't turn the ship and its vicinity into pure energy must be on a whole new level.

Just to be really sure about this (I've seen the answers like "XP is outdated, anyway):
Is it correct, that SOTS II won't run on Windows XP in any way? Or is it just not suggested?
I don't have time to upgrade my PC in the months to come (2 weeks old daughter). So there is no point in rushing into buying SOTS II (which I usually would), if it won't run on my system.
Thank you very much and best regards

SotS 2 is DX 10 game. DX 10 works only (officially) in Windows Vista and newer.
In simplest terms, SotS 2 requires Windows Vista or newer.
(Some people have managed to make DX 10 work in Windows XP, but that's very unnofficial and is not supported by Kerberos at all.)

All right, thank you very much for the information. I will stick to SOTS I then, until I get around to upgrade my PC and install Win 7.
Best regards

22. Boarding, is it still there? If so, is it like it was in SotS1 - "I'll borrow your ship for a battle, and then my scientists will rip it apart for technology", or will player be prompted if he wants to keep the ship or disassemble it? (Me like trophies ^_^)

No keeping it as a useable part of the fleet.

At this point your options will be to break it down or to consign it to abstracted espionage duty that will result in higher chances of ops success.

But keeping it for some kind of espionage is confirmed. No details on how that works yet.

On the subject of Anti-Matter refinements.. perhaps it will involve trapping and using the massive amounts of gamma rays produced by matter/anti-matter collisions for some kind of use.
